Who exactly do the courts server?
Its interesting that a courthouse where my taxes pay for the employees is so useless....the employees act as if your disturbing their day...the customer is far from 1st...probably bottom on the hierarchy...the signage is confusing and outdated...the judges are arrogant and rude...the commissioners have no knowledge of the law...
Crack Kills
As I sit on my front stairs, I watch them deal crack. As the neighbors unload their groceries and their children help, they sell crack. As my daughter yells at her newly discovered birds in our front yard, they sell crack. As a cop car drives up the street, they continue to deal crack. Stopping only to send a cat call my way, they continue to deal crack.
Are they stupid? naive? egotistical?
Who deals crack as their neighbors watches them or as the police drive up the street?!
They know that we have all become immune to it. We are tire of calling the police because nothing ever results. We all have put our blinders on just to survive the reality that surrounds us.
And what happens when that crack leaves their hands?
Tomorrow my investment property will have the garage door and gutters stolen for scrap so they can get the next rock -- they will steal the electrical meter to sell for cash to get the next rock -- they will steal the copper piping out of the basement -- they will steal my grill and my child's bike to get the next rock -- they will sell themselves on the next block for under $20 to get the next rock -- they will break into my house when I am not home and steal everything down to the house phone - they will do anything for the next rock!!
And one day, I will find them laying in my street strung out still thinking about the next rock as the ambulance rushes up to take them away.
I will lose hundreds of thousands of dollars -- I will lose my feeling of security (priceless).
I will spend sleepless nights listening for the breaking glass. I will walk a lot quicker coming in from the garage with my hand clenched to my keys as to be ready to stab someone. I will wake at night with my hand on the safety hoping tonight is not the night that they try.
All because the guy across the street wants to make a quick few bucks.
So, does this guy drive an Escalade or have a half million dollar house in the burbs? or a million dollar condo on the lakefront? No -- this guys who puts the rock into the hands of the users doesn't even own a car.
He is hopeful that he will have enough money to pay his $400 a month rent and to buy a new pair of jordans this month.
He deals cracks and still makes less than minimum wage.
This is not about the users that are killed from crack. This is about my sense of safety that cracked killed. This is about my neighborhoods ability to see our block without wearing blinders. Crack killed us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone that has had their community ruined by it -- their life ruined by it! It killed us!
